High School Students 10th and 11th Grade (African American Students)

The goal of the program is to give students an opportunity to experience the work environment in various businesses and the requirements of the work environment. They learn how to get along with other employees and the importance of working as a team. Interns work in locations throughout the county such as the River Ridge Golf Course, government offices, PAL Club, recreation departments, and St. John’s Medical Center.
African American Enrichment Program
PYI, in partnership with California State University, Channel Islands (CSUCI) and Oxnard Union High School District (OUHSD), sponsors an African American Enrichment Academy for 10th - 12th-grade students. Pinkard Youth Institute “A Heart for Youth" Presents African American Youth Leadership Awards Supper and Memorial Tribute
Recognizing our youth who have excelled in community service, volunteerism, scholastic achievement and school involvement. Scholarships will be awarded to:
· 2 middle school students, 1 male and 1 female
· 2 high school students, 1 male and 1 female

The Black College Tour was initiated in the effort to inspire, encourage, and assist minority youth, specifically African American youth, to attain high educational goals. This educational endeavor introduces High School students to college campus life and provides them with firsthand curriculum information, entrance requirements, financial aid and scholarship resources by offering students the opportunity to speak directly with college admission officials and current college students.
